Dental Veneers and Cosmetic Bonding
Veneers: Straight! White! Beautiful! These are all
words used to describe the "perfect" smile. Countless times per day people smile while they try to hide chipped, dark, or
crooked teeth. They smile but not all the way. Just a little bit so they don't show so much of the teeth they do not like
to look at. Maybe they have crowded teeth. They could have dark teeth; tragically stained by the medicines they took as a
child. Sometimes there are smiles that seem OK but the owner of that smile (YOU) wants it to be SUPER! Dr. Newington and his
staff recently completed over 40 hours of education to become even better at helping patient's get the best smile they can.
Cosmetic Bonding: This is an option for those with
just subtle changes needed to improve a smile. They may not be ready to do a smile with Veneers. A tooth colored covering
is shaped over the front and sides of teeth that appear too small, chipped, stained or dark. It can reduce the appearance
of deep grooves, and get rid of or diminish gaps in the teeth. Call and take us up on a free consultation. See if you are
a candidate for economical Cosmetic Bonding.
Bridges
A bridge is required when a patient has a tooth that is missing or a tooth
has been taken out. The space that is left must be filled with a fake tooth called a pontic. The pontic is attached to the
tooth in front of and behind the space. This requires great skill on the part of Dr. Newington and Dr. Segrist along with
their chairside assistants, Amy, Erica, and Jessica. The first visit is usually 2 hours or less. The second visit is less
than 1 hour. By filling the space where a tooth is missing the rest of the patients smile is a lot less likely to develop
gaps. The patient's teeth are healthy and very strong following this process. We invite you to call for you or a loved one
with any questions you may have.

Out Patient Sedation
It is very common in our dental world to hear from patients who have fear
of treatment. Dr. Newington offers a few very unique types of sedation. They range from nitrous oxide (laughing
gas) to IV medications to make you as sleepy as possible while still keeping you safe. Many patients, as stated before,
have a fear of treatment but some patients use IV Sedation in order to get 2 or 3 visits worth of treatment done in a single
visit. The medication given during these sessions varies depending on the patient's need and health. Patients have sedation
for all services from check-ups to surgery. Please call our office if you have more questions about this time saving service
that makes our patients comfortable while getting care.
Gum (Periodontal) Disease
Are you at risk???
Do you have family (mom, dad, brother or sister) that had dentures at any
early age?
Do your gums seem puffy and a little red?
Do you sometimes feel that your breath is bad even after you brush your teeth?
Did you know that developing heart disease, kidney failure, and stroke in
your future depends on how healthy your gums are?
It is true! Bleeding gums, bad breath, gaps between teeth, loose teeth;
these are just a few of the warning signs that tell us if a patient has Periodontal Disease. The high levels of bacteria in
the mouth get under the gum tissue and eat away the bone that holds our teeth. Smoking, genetics, and age are all risk factors.
Nowadays patients are relieved when they find out about our non-surgical method for taking care of teeth and gums. Many patients
have found these new non-surgical treatments so easy that we hear all the time, "If I would have known it would be this simple
(to get control of periodontal disease) I would have been in to see you much sooner". Many patients finish their therapy in
just 2 visits to our office. For the sake of your future health, please call for an appointment with Lori or Janel. During
your first visit we can do a very simple, non-invasive test to see if you are at risk.
Routine Check-Ups
Gums and teeth are important to us all whether we realize it or not. It
is the way we smile, eat, talk, and laugh through our days. Smiles are the ambassador to strangers we see every day. Maintaining
healthy teeth and gums starts at home. Brushing two x per day and flossing one x per day will reduce the amount of plaque
and tartar a person has on their teeth and gums, but not get rid of it completely. Seeing our professional Dental Hygienist,
Lori, or Janel, at least every 6 months is the other piece of the puzzle. The hygienists at our office are Registered Dental
Hygienists, as required by the State of Nebraska. They can not only help keep your gums healthy but they can also help to
get them healthy if they are not. Not to mention they are the nicest gals you will ever meet!
Root Canal Therapy
When the nerve of a tooth dies causes an infection in the tooth. The infection
is called an abscess. This infection can only be cured by removal of the blood supply to the tooth. Antibiotics and other
medicines cannot reach inside the tooth and only help to keep the infection out of the body. Most root canal therapy can be
completed in one visit and in some cases a crown can be completed at the same visit. The appointment lasts only about 2 hours.
There is no need to come back 2 or 3 times for that same tooth. Our staff welcomes you for an appointment. Call today.

Crowns In One Visit
A crown is sometimes called a cap. A brand new technology called Cerec
3D allows patients to have crowns done in one visit. It usually takes only 90 minutes for
a crown to be done - start to finish. Some teeth are not good candidates for this new service. The alternative is the traditional
crown, which must be sent to a lab; usually this takes 2 to 3 weeks between appointments. Dr. Newington or Dr. Segrist will
determine the way a tooth can be treated. He can tell you right away by looking at x-rays and doing a thorough exam if your
tooth is a candidate for a Crown in One Visit. What a time savings! Let us know if you have questions
about this exciting service at your first visit. We will gladly find a time that is right for you.
